Myth: Spot-Treatment for Dealing with Spots
It takes around 2 weeks for a spot or pimple to fully develop. In other words, if you use a skincare product to just treat the existing spots, after two weeks your acne will not have improved. So ‘spot treatment’ is not the way forward for you. If you want to tackle acne in a good way you need to make sure that spots don’t appear. You do this by:
- slowing down the production of sebum
- counteracting blocked sebaceous glands
- preventing bacteria from entering blocked pores and causing an inflammatory reaction.
‘Spot-treatment’ is only useful in emergencies. If you wake up on the morning of your wedding with two big spots on your chin, there is probably a Dermatologist around who can inject a small amount of Corticosteroids (anti inflammatory) to reduce the swelling and redness. Necessity knows no boundary!
